Four effective ways to publish PowerPoint presentations to the Web By alexbear88

For sharing your PowerPoint presentations with a large amount of people, you may take advantages of the flourishing Internet which allows anyone to get useful information freely. So, publishing PowerPoint files on web comes into mind.

But how can we put our PowerPoint presentations on web? Here are 4 effective ways for you to do it easily.

1.    Upload PowerPoint directly to your website and link to it

2.    Publish your presentation as HTML Web Page

3.    Share your presentation on some free online PowerPoint sharing sites

4.    Put PowerPoint on web in SWF file format (Recommended)

Method 1: Upload PowerPoint directly to your website and link to it

If your PowerPoint doesn't have a big file size, you can directly upload it to your website easily. Visitors can click and download the PowerPoint file on their own computer to view it.

In this way, visitors should have PowerPoint or PowerPoint viewer installed properly on their computers. Otherwise, they would not be able to view the presentation.

Method 2: Publish your presentation as HTML Web Page

PowerPoint allows you save your PowerPoint presentation as HTML Web Page. To do this, open your PowerPoint first. Then click Office button -> Save As -> Other formats. In the drop-down menu, choose Web Page (*.htm; *html)

In this way, each slide is saved as a separate image. So you have to upload the entire folder of files to your server. Visitors who aren't using IE may not be able to view the PowerPoint properly.

Method 3: Share your presentation on some free online PowerPoint sharing sites

There are many online PowerPoint sharing sites, such as slideshare, authorstream, and slideboom. After uploading your presentation onto them, you can directly embed the video presentation to your own site.

If your presentation's file size is not too big, and there are no complex animations in your presentation, you can try this method.

Method 4: Put PowerPoint on web in SWF file format (Recommended)

SWF (flash) is in high compatibility with all kinds of browsers. If our PowerPoint could be saved in SWF file format, it would be fine for viewing on website.

Open Office directly offers to export presentations as a Flash (SWF) format, but animations will be lost. Acoolsoft PPT to Flash, an add-in of PowerPoint, can let you directly convert your PowerPoint presentation to Flash in one click. All the visual elements and animation effects will be retained in the output flash.

Here are the three steps for convert your PowerPoint to flash:

Download and install PPT to Flash -> Import your PowerPoint -> Click Publish to convert.

There are also some other ways for you to generate a flash file from your PowerPoint, such as using Camtasia ($299). For details about how to do it, you can click here.

Hope these methods would help a bit for putting your PowerPoint on web. Of course, if you have any other good methods, please let me know. Thanks!

What about the best way to publish to the web, a powerpoint that was part of a videotaped presentation, where a small video window of a talking head is accompanied by the larger PPT slide view? (Accordent makes a system for managing loads of these presentations and Powerpoint Producer seems to be able to make something, but it may not work well posted to the web- or maybe I'm doing something wrong)
